End of Apple iPod Era?

Along with technological developments, it is not uncommon that the old products are being abandoned, even sometimes launch of new products may cannibalize sales of previous products. As experienced by Apple, but did not cannibalize sales but if the iPod Touch looks very lethargic, on the other hand tub caught iPad sales windfall. While iPad sales rose 183% over the same quarter last year, sales of the iPod (all models) actually fell 20% to only 7:54 million units sold.

iPod was initially a music most favorite media player, now the iPod Touch which is a sophisticated series of the iPod has become an alternative to the iPhone, most of which have similar functions in addition to support for 3G telecommunications.
Yet Apple seems to still not forgotten the product by maintaining the original iPod iPod Classic and iPod size that is easy to carry anywhere with iPod Nano. Of course it was too early for Apple to stop production of the iPod as a whole, after 7.5 million units in the first quarter is still quite good.

There are still two options that can be done to optimize the Apple product line iPodnya, among other things: Turn off the production of the iPod Classic which has no age, or turn off the production of small iPod that has a very small market. Who needs a media player that is only capable of playing mp3 again today, I personally lazy play a video or open image on the screen as small as the iPod Nano
